artHARLEM Directors and Staff
The BOARD OF DIRECTORS meet once a month to form a united vision for the organization,  structure policies, and create a working plan towards clear goals.  STAFF MEETINGS are held to implement the organization's plans, disseminate work and to agree on expenditures, policies, and actions to be taken by the organization.

artHARLEM Directors

Gina Fuentes Walker (Co-Founder and Executive Director) is an artist and curator based in New York. Her site-specific installations and photography are informed by an academic background in anthropology and documentary media. She has been awarded fellowships and residencies from the Smithsonian Institution, Chashama and The Bronx Museum for the Arts. She has had solo exhibitions in Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia, as well as site-specific installations in New York. A solo exhibition and site-specific video installation of her work are currently on view in a one year exhibition in Brauweiler Abbey near Cologne, Germany.

Janice Taylor (Co-Founder and Director) is a Weight Loss Artist*, a Life & Wellness Coach, and Certified Hypnotist, specializing in transformation, reinvention and weight loss. She is the author of the bestselling books: Our Lady of Weight Loss: Miraculous and Motivational Musings from the Patron Saint of Permanent Fat Removal (Oprah Book Club, summer reading 2009 pick!) and All Is Forgiven, Move On: Our Lady of Weight Loss's 101 Fat-burning Stops on Your Journey to Sveltesville. In addition, Janice is a columnist for Huffington Post, Beliefnet.com, and Today's Health and Wellness Magazine as well as the creator of the popular e-newsletter Kick in the Tush Club. She leads workshops at a number of wellness centers across America, and has been featured in many prominent national publications, major television and radio shows. She is a member of the New York Society for Ericksonian Psychotherapy and Hypnosis, CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts) and Association for Integrative Psychology.*A Weight Loss Artist is someone who makes art about food instead of eating it and, in the process, loses weight. Janice permanently removed over 50 pounds 8 years ago.

Reuben Sinha (Founder and Director) is an painter, stained glass artist and teacher. He has been the recipient of a MacDowell Traveling Grant, and a Fulbright Fellowship, and has exhibitied nationally and internationally. Mr. Sinha has a MA in Art and Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and currently teaches art at Explorations Academy, a public high school in the Bronx. He lives with his wife and daughter in Harlem.

Staff Members
Zeina Assaf graduated with a BA in Art History from Boston University in 2002. After moving to New York she worked as the Programs Associate/ Intern Coordinator Artists Alliance, Inc from 2003-2007. In 2009, Zeina joined the Board of Artists Alliance. Currently, the Gallery Manager at NY Studio Gallery, she has also curated and organized exhibits and events at various venues around the New York Area while developing her own work as an artist.

Stephanie Mulvihill is an artist and educator living in West Harlem.  She has been a staff member since May 2004 working primarily in an administrative role.  When she is not painting, drawing, sculpting, she inspires young artists at a local public high school in East Harlem.

Daina Shobrys is a conceptual artist and writer who has done projects for the New Museum and P.S. 1 Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and her artists’ books are in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum.  She has extensive volunteer experience having served on the board of Randolph Street Gallery in Chicago in the 1980’s, the board of Westside Cooperative Preschool in the 1990’s and having started and run an afterschool program at P.S. 75.  She currently serves on the board of the Delaware Youth Center in Callicoon, NY.  For ArtHarlem, she will be managing the mailing list, developing distribution outlets for tour maps and exploring mutually beneficial relationships with other arts groups like the Catskill Art Society.

Allicette Torres is originally from Dorado, Puerto Rico, and is an autodidactic artist living and working in Harlem, New York. At present, she is working on photographs that incorporate drawing and painting. She is also an Art Director for Scholastic, Inc.. In addition, she is contributing editor to the Brooklyn Art Project. Allicette is working on the artHARLEM/HOAST website to enrich and expand the user experience to offer more to the online artist community. She has shown her work in New York and Washington DC.

Kalpana Nitzsche, web designer for artHARLEM and HOAST since 2004.

Gisneiry Peralta (Program Assistant) began working with artHARLEM/HOAST last year as our Summer intern, assisting us with the design and production of the HOAST2008 tour map and our MTA subway poster advertisement campaign.

Misha McGlown, has curated exhibitions for artHARLEM, including the Evolution exhibition on view at Columbia University in 2008.

Other staff members include: Petrushka Bazin, Ingrid Capozzoli-Flinn and Christina Gundersen.
