Eric Alugas was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.   He studied painting there, and later, in Montpellier and Paris, France.   He lived and exhibited in Paris for many years, and is now living and exhibiting in New York.
In his painting, Alugas works through myths and folklore, philosophy and dreams; and the concrete elements of Painting--the canvas, the brushstroke, gesso, paint: between the nature of the painting materials and the Idea.  
Most of the work is free hanging, in oils, at times with mixed media, on heavy canvas suspended by grommets.
