Artist Statement

I've created a theme honoring the spirit of women through the metaphoric power of a butterfly.
I continue to explore transformation through the realms of The Underground Forest through
a new generation of muses, selkies , butterfly women and other womenfolk. Through
mythology, faerie/folktales and music, I've blended cross cultural references with a
modern spin into the images such as the Amazons of Harlem River. I've been mainly
inspired by writers Zora Neale Hurston, Angela Carter and Clarissa Pinkola Estes.

I'm one of the contributing artists of the Mural, Paint With Love on the wall of H&M on
125th St. by Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building Plaza by the Breast Examination
Center of Harlem.
